BDU VC pays homage to Bangabandhu on his 101st birth anniversary

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor paid homage to father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of the great leader and the National Children’s Day.
He paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at the historic 32 Dhanmondi Road in the capital this morning (Wednesday), said a press release.
After placing the wreath, VC Munaz Ahmed Noor said, “Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are inseparable part of our history. He is the source of our inspiration. His works and ideology will remain alive forever in the heart of every Bengali.”
<p>Kathmandu, Mar 16 (PTI) Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari will visit Bangladesh next week during which she will hold talks with the country's top leadership and attend the birth centenary celebration of ‘Bangabandhu’ Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.</p>

He will offer prayers at a temple at Orakandi sacred to Matua community of West Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26 and 27 to attend the celebrations to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of the war of liberation of Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday. The visit, which is the first foreign trip by Prime Minister Modi since the outbreak of the pandemic, is noteworthy as he is scheduled to travel outside Dhaka and visit Orakandi, which is sacred to the Matua community of West Bengal.

Bengalis have titled him Bangabandhu or ‘friend of Bengal’ out of sheer respect and love for him, while the constitution of independent Bangladesh honoured him as the Father of the Nation. The nation has geared itself up to celebrate on Wednesday the 101st birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led it to independence from the oppressive Pakistan. );

Were he alive today, Bangabandhu would have hoisted the flag of Bangladesh on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence, nine days after his birthday.
Bengalis have always profusely expressed their love and respect for Bangabandhu in poems, songs or other genres of arts and literature. Poet Jasimuddin used the analogy of volcano Visuvius to pen Sheikh Mujib’s strong personality in a poem published on Mar 17, 1971, Bangabandhu’s birthday.
